USC Doesn’t Want Gifts, Only Money For Birthday

LOS ANGELES, CA — On Oct 6, 2022, USC celebrated its 142nd birthday, and issued an accompanying email to students and alumni announcing that it would “prefer money instead of gifts to commemorate [its] anniversary”. “Greetings Trojans,” the email begins; “On this very special day, we will not be accepting any gifts, especially after what happened last year…this year we’re staying true to our values and just asking you for money.” When asked by students if the money would be used to better assist low income students or fix EVK, USC simply responded in another email “It’s our birthday today– we can do whatever we want.”
